Raving is inspired by Electronic Dance Music and ›raves‹: events where thousands of people gather to dance to music. That people gather around music, as at raves and also when listening to concert music, somehow has a moving aspect for me. And that is among other things what Raving is about.
Raving is not primarily intended to dance to. Yet Raving is also about dancing. On the one hand in Electronic Dance Music the endless, electronic pulse evokes the frenzy of dancing, on the other hand it keeps the dance in check by its regularity. Thus the deepest human impulses reveal themselves in the lightness of dance. This is celebrated in Raving, without forgetting the loner among the crowd.

Raving is geïnspireerd door Electronic Dance Music en door ›raves‹: events waar duizenden mensen samenkomen om op muziek te dansen. Dat mensen zich rondom muziek verzamelen, zoals bij raves en ook bij het luisteren naar concertmuziek, heeft voor mij iets ontroerends. En dat is waar Raving onder meer over gaat.
Het is niet direct de bedoeling dat op Raving wordt gedanst. Toch gaat Raving ook over dansen. In de elektronische dansmuziek roept de eindeloze elektronische puls enerzijds de bezetenheid van de dans op, anderzijds houdt de puls de dans in toom door zijn regelmaat. Zo openbaren de diepste menselijke impulsen zich in de lichtheid van de dans. Dat wordt gevierd in Raving, waarbij de eenling te midden van de massa niet vergeten wordt.
